Summer sales 2026: the best instant photography deals

This guide lists the most interesting deals to watch and helps you prepare your list so you don't miss anything from the first markdown.

How to prepare for summer sales 2026
Create your wish list now
Add products you're interested in to your Amazon wish list. Enable price drop notifications in your account settings. You'll receive an alert as soon as a product on your list goes on sale — sometimes before the official start.
Our tip: also watch less popular colours. The Mini 12 in lilac or cream is often more discounted than sage green or blue, which are bestsellers. Performance is identical, only the look changes.
Set a budget per scenario
| Profile | Recommended budget | Priority target |
|---|---|---|
| First purchase | 70-90 EUR | Mini 12 + 1 twin pack of films |
| Already equipped with Instax | 20-50 EUR | Films in bulk + accessories |
| Tempted by Polaroid | 60-100 EUR | Go Gen 2 or Now Gen 2 |
| Summer gift | 50-80 EUR | Mini 12 + fancy films |
| Moving to square format | 110-130 EUR | Discounted SQ40 |
Watch other retailers
Summer sales aren't just about Amazon. Fnac, Darty, Boulanger, Cdiscount and La Redoute also discount instant cameras. Sometimes even more than Amazon on certain models, especially towards the end of the period.
Always compare prices before buying. Our table gives Amazon prices, but a quick check on Idealo or Google Shopping might reveal a better deal from a competitor.
Our top 3 summer sales bargains
1. Instax Mini 12: the obvious choice
The Mini 12 is systematically the most discounted model. At the end of season, previous year's colours hit rock-bottom prices. If you've been hesitating for months, now's the time. Expect about 65 EUR versus 89 EUR normally.
2. Polaroid Go Gen 2: the pocket format on sale
The Go Gen 2 is the smallest instant camera on the market. On sale, it becomes very accessible at around 59 EUR. Perfect for summer holidays: it slips into any pocket.
3. Bulk film packs: the real bargain
The best reflex during sales is to stock up on films. A camera without films is useless, and twin pack lots sometimes drop to 0.50 EUR per photo instead of 0.75 EUR.

4. Instax Square SQ40: accessible square format
The SQ40 rarely starts on sale, but discounts deepen in the second markdown. At 115 EUR instead of 145 EUR, it becomes a reasonable purchase for those who want to stand out from the Mini.
5. Instax Mini Link 2: reduced-price photo printer
The Mini Link 2 printer lets you print smartphone photos in Instax Mini format. On sale, it often drops to around 89 EUR. Ideal for holiday photos: shoot digitally, print the best ones as instant prints.
6. Instax Wide 400: large format on promotion
The Wide 400 produces the largest Instax prints (99x62mm). Its discounts are more modest (-20% typically), but at 119 EUR it's the best price of the year for a camera that excels at landscapes and group photos.
Accessories not to forget during sales
Instant cameras are nothing without the right accessories. Summer sales are also the time to complete your kit at lower cost:
- Protective case: Essential for taking your Instax on holiday. Rigid cases often drop below 15 EUR during sales.
- Dedicated photo album: An Instax Mini format album (64 or 128 photos) costs between 8 and 12 EUR during sale periods.
- Strap / lanyard: Practical for festivals and outings. Some accessory packs bundle case, strap and stickers for under 20 EUR.
- Selfie mirror add-on: For models that don't have one built in, a magnetic selfie mirror costs about 5-8 EUR.
- Storage pouches: To protect prints in a bag or album. Packs of 50 transparent pouches run about 6-8 EUR during sales.
Markdown calendar: when to buy
Summer sales work in several waves. Here's our detailed strategy to optimise your purchases.
First markdown (24 June - 3 July)
This is the time to buy cameras. Discounts are -15% to -20%, which is already significant, and above all stock is complete. The Mini 12 in popular colours goes fast — don't delay if you have a specific colour in mind.
Films and accessories are also on promotion, but discounts will be better in the second markdown. Unless you find a 60-film lot at an unbeatable price — in that case, take it.
Second markdown (4 July - 14 July)
This is the good window for films in bulk and accessories. Discounts reach -25% to -30% and stock remains decent on films (cameras start running low).
If you didn't buy the camera in the first markdown, check stock. Bestselling colours (sage green, blue) may be sold out, but other colours remain available with higher discounts.
Third markdown (15 July - 21 July)
Discounts reach their maximum (-30% to -40%) but stock is very limited. This is the time to hunt for bargains on less popular models or unusual colours. The Mini 11 on sale, the Wide 400, or the SQ40 can reach exceptional prices.
However, forget the Mini 12 in popular colours — they'll have been gone for a long time. And beware of import products that sometimes appear at very low prices but without French warranty.
Our tips for smart sale shopping
Sales work through successive markdowns. The first markdown (24 June) offers the most modest discounts but the widest selection. Subsequent markdowns offer better deals, but stock runs out fast on popular instant cameras.
Our recommendation: buy the camera in the first markdown (stock goes fast) and wait for the second markdown for films and accessories (they stay available longer).
Avoid overpriced "camera + 10 films" packs. It's often better to buy the camera alone on sale and order a twin pack of films separately — the total saving is usually greater. Also beware of import models that aren't covered by the French warranty: always check that the seller is Amazon or an authorised dealer.
Pro tip: Add products you're interested in to your Amazon wish list right now. You'll receive a notification if the price drops even before the official start of sales.
Summer sales vs Prime Day: which to choose?
Both events take place a few weeks apart (sales late June - mid-July, Prime Day usually in July). Here's a comparison to help you choose.
| Criterion | Summer sales | Prime Day |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 4 weeks | 48 hours |
| Camera discounts | -20% to -30% | -25% to -35% |
| Film discounts | -15% to -25% | -20% to -30% |
| Availability | All retailers | Amazon only |
| Stock | Wide at start, limited at end | Limited on Lightning Deals |
| Subscription required | No | Amazon Prime (6.99 EUR/month) |
| Best for | Cameras (wide selection) | Films in bulk and Lightning Deals |
Our advice: buy the camera during sales (better colour selection and stock guarantee) and films at Prime Day (lower price per print on bulk lots). If both events overlap, compare prices in real time.
Mistakes to avoid during sales
Every year, we observe the same traps in the instant photography category during summer sales. Here's how to avoid them.
Too-good-to-be-true bundles
"Camera + films + accessories" packs display enticing -40% or -50% discounts. In reality, the base price is often inflated. Always compare with the price of each item purchased separately. In the majority of cases, buying separately comes out 10 to 20 EUR cheaper.
Import models
Some sellers offer Instax or Polaroid at very low prices, but they're import models (Japanese or American version). The manual isn't in French, the warranty doesn't apply in Europe, and the charger may need an adapter. Always check that the seller is Amazon.fr or an authorised distributor.
End-of-life films
Instant films are sensitive to heat and have an expiry date. During sales, some sellers offload film stocks close to expiry. Result: washed-out colours and poor contrast. Read recent reviews before buying discounted films, and check the date if possible.
Buying without comparing
Sales create a sense of urgency. Before clicking "Buy", take 30 seconds to check the price on Idealo, Google Shopping or directly at Fnac/Darty. Sometimes a competitor offers the same product cheaper, even during sales.
Price history during sales
To help you identify genuine good deals, here are the prices observed during previous summer sales.
| Product | Summer sales 2024 | Summer sales 2025 | Summer sales 2026 (estimated) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instax Mini 12 | 72 EUR | 68 EUR | ~65 EUR |
| Instax Mini 11 | 62 EUR | 58 EUR | ~55 EUR |
| Polaroid Go Gen 2 | 69 EUR | 64 EUR | ~59 EUR |
| Polaroid Now Gen 2 | 99 EUR | 97 EUR | ~95 EUR |
| Instax Wide 400 | 129 EUR | 124 EUR | ~119 EUR |
| Mini twin pack film | 13 EUR | 12 EUR | ~11 EUR |
| Mini x60 film | 35 EUR | 34 EUR | ~32 EUR |
The trend is a gradual decrease of 3 to 5 EUR per year on existing models. The 2026 estimated prices are conservative — discounts could be more aggressive if new models launch before then.
